We’ve stuck with the classic Protective Maxtex® 600 D outer shell for superior abrasion resistance. For added protection, we’ve designed the jacket to be 100% compatible with body armour inserts for the back, shoulders and elbows (sold separately). NEED ARMOUR? With a total of 5 large pockets, you’ll have plenty of room to stash all your valuables on your next ride. We’ve added a magnetic keeper to the removable hood (to stop it flapping around), there’s a hidden key clip in the front pocket for your key/fob, reflective logos for extra visibility and premium YKK® zippers all round.

Best Jacket Ever

I have had the original Alpha jacket for 5+ years now that’s worked for me on many bikes, I’ve used it on the Harley for our bigger trips. But the adv world was calling and I needed a new jacket. There was no question it was going to be the Alpha 4.0.
The first jacket I’ve put on and off with a liner that hasn’t made me Autistic screech and I work at Aus biggest mc accessories chain store so believe me I’ve tried them all.
How good is a jacket that looks and feels this good that’s protective from the elements and crashes. Just got home from our Trip to Tenterfield in the middle of winter and I wasn’t cold in the slightest. Most of the trip was offroad and a few times I pulled the liner out and opened the vents for better breath ability and what a difference.
I’m going to grab the Gorm jacket and pants for wet weather in the hotter months in qld but otherwise this jacket will live on me on the T7.

White alpha jacket. Alpha pants.

Big business should take note, Akin Moto is an example of how to get things right. From customer service, to their return and exchange process to the quality of their product. I now have the jacket and pants, both with full armour, and both are extremely warm and comfortable to wear. The slightly looser fit jacket allows you to wear extra layers if you need. I think the quality is great, price is spot on and they look cool.

Beautiful jacket!

I had been eying this jacket up for a while, spoke with Grant for some help with the sizing, I’m 175cm tall with a 100cm chest, bit on the lean side. He recommended size large, I pulled the trigger and bought the jacket along with the pants, and he was spot on with the sizing! The jacket layers perfectly with whatever I need to wear underneath, fits slightly looser which is what I wanted out of the jacket, and looks pretty casual too so I don’t end up looking like a power ranger when I go into the shop to buy some things.

It’s definitely rain proof, and keeps me warm even without the thermal liner. I find that the vents offer some decent ventilation for when it’s a bit warmer, but probably won’t be ideal for summer, which is fair given it’s made out of thick textile and has rainproof fabric built in.

The thermal liner is nice for when it does get extra cold, but I do find the wrist gaiter is impractical to use if you are using gauntlet style gloves. This isn’t a big issue though as you can just put it over your wrist instead of using the thumb gaiter, it just makes putting your gloves on a bit more difficult (if they are gauntlet style).

I also bought the armour (back, elbows and shoulders) and they all fit snug into place and don’t move around, you hardly notice it’s there!

Grant is a legend and I would definitely recommend emailing him if you are concerned about sizing. I strongly recommend this jacket if you are looking for a stylish, well made 3/4 season jacket!

I'm really glad the sizing recommendation was spot on and that the fit is exactly what you were hoping for. It sounds like you've summed up the Alpha 4.0 perfectly too - comfortable through the cooler months with plenty of ventilation for the warmer days, but still a dedicated cold and wet weather jacket rather than a summer option.

We really appreciate your feedback on the wrist gaiters as well. We've found they work really well with our Alpha gloves and other gloves of a similar cuff length, but we'll definitely take your comments on board when considering riders using gauntlet-style gloves.

Buy this jacket!

Was expecting a nice jacket but what I got exceeded my expectations. Really nicely made and looks awesome. Has kept me very warm on my 3am winter commutes in Sydney.

Also purchased the elbow and shoulder armor. Both fit well and don’t move around when wearing the jacket.

Another shout out to Grant for all his help with making sure I got the right size. Your customer service is on fucking point. I’ll definitely be coming back to buy more Akin gear!!

Good service and support

In a world full of stars and mice, the jacket holds its own among them in my opinion.

I purchased this with the armour set and although at the time or this review I am waiting on the elbow inserts, the jacket has been a great addition to my daily commuting kit.

I purchased this in preparation for winter and I'm confident I won't freeze this year and trust the protectors will do their job if needed.

Grant was great to deal with when it came to sizing questions and was very patient and accommodating. Even if I wasn't able to try the jacket on physically I was confident it'd be a perfect fit - which it is!
