We’re proud to introduce the 4th generation our Alpha Jacket. Our best jacket, just got a whole lot better!
I know what you’re thinking… “what’s different compared to the old Alpha Jacket”? We’ve spent the past 2 years riding all over the world, taking notes of ‘all the small things’ that we could improve. More importantly, we listened to YOU. Your emails and reviews had some hidden clues on ways we could improve the design… and we’ve been paying attention.
STAY PROTECTED
We’ve stuck with the classic Protective Maxtex® 600 D outer shell for superior abrasion resistance. For added protection, we’ve designed the jacket to be 100% compatible with body armour inserts for the back, shoulders and elbows (sold separately). NEED ARMOUR? CLICK HERE.
Please note: Our Alpha Jacket sizes currently vary in terms of which Zeus Pro CE Level 2 Back Protector they require—either Regular or Large. Most sizes are compatible with the Large protector, but some still require Regular. If you're ordering a jacket and a back protector together, we’ll make sure you receive the correct size to match the jacket in your order. If you’re purchasing a back protector separately, or need one for a different Akin Moto jacket, please email us first to confirm which size you need.
STAY COMFORTABLE
Cold weather? We’ve improved the removable Thermoline® thermal liner, plus added built-in wrist gaiters to help block cold wind from entering your sleeves.
Warm weather? Zip-out that thermal lining and open the new SmartVentTM System (with a total of 5 zipper vents) for maximum air circulation, keeping you cooler.
With a total of 5 large pockets, you’ll have plenty of room to stash all your valuables on your next ride. We’ve added a magnetic keeper to the removable hood (to stop it flapping around), there’s a hidden key clip in the front pocket for your key/fob, reflective logos for extra visibility and premium YKK® zippers all round.
STAY DRY
Built for the worst conditions – Fully seam sealed + our new Humax® membrane features a huge 14k Waterproof + 19k Breathability rating, resulting in the ultimate protection against rain, wind and snow. (14,348 mmH2O + 19,241 g/m2/24 h)
STAY OUT THERE
We’ve built the new Alpha Jacket to take you wherever you want to go. From mountain peaks, to city streets. Around town, or around the world. The Alpha 4.0 Motorcycle jacket is ready for it all.
The Alpha Jacket has ZERO stretch. We recommend that you choose a size that will fit 'loosely' on your body.
The best way to find out your size is to measure a jacket you already own, and that fits 'loosely' while on your bike (factoring in any garments you wish to layer underneath). Being a lot thicker than most other jackets this adds to the overall chest width of the jacket. We encourage customers to measure something that's a similar style (such as a snow or a thick technical jacket) as this will ultimately be the best comparison in chest width.
Measure by laying your jacket flat on a table, and measure the chest, making sure to go from side seam to side seam (near the armpit like in the photo below). It's very important that you reach the seam join on each side, even if you have to bend a little around the sides of the jacket. Compare your measurement to the size chart above.
If you're unsure of your size, please EMAIL US at support@akinmoto.com, especially if you are an international customer. We are here to help and will do whatever we can to make sure you order the right size.
Model in the photos is 6ft, 83kgs, has a 100cm chest and is wearing a size Large.
You guys have outdone yourselves!!! I just received my Alpha 4.0 jacket in white and this jacket is amazing! I tell ya, I’ve bought a lot of expensive jackets in my time but this one is sensational. I would have paid at least $700-800 for something like this PLUS from an Aussie company to boot. I’ll post some pics with my bike on socials later. Well done AKIN MOTO and thanks.
I've been a fan of Akin since the Battlevest, which I've worn on nearly every ride for the last two years and it's seen my through two winters of comfortable riding. Since changing my ride from a retro racer to a cruise for regular commutes and long weekend rides, I wanted something with a bit more practicality and so looked into the Alpha Jacket 4.0. my battle vest was an XL and fit comfortably over jackets. I originally opted for the same in the Alpha, but it turned out to be but more restrictive when I first put it on. I was right on the edge of just keeping the XL but opted for the next size up so that I could comfortably put layers on underneath. So err on the larger size if you're wanting to do the same. That said, first time putting the jacket on and I could see and feel the impressive build quality. I've since worn the jacket every day for the last 3 week in cold morning and raining nights and have felt warm and protected. The long sleeves and the high collar keep the chill and water out. The armour placements are solid (I supplied my own from a previous jacket which fit fine). I feel super enclosed when I ride. The hood magnet is great. The only downside is that the jacket is a tad too long and tends to bunch up once I'm seated, but a simply fold and tuck of the excess seems to solve that problem. So, a pretty small downside at that. Overall, it's been a great value purchase that I love wearing every time I ride.
Hey Cam, stoked to hear you’ve been with us for so long! Love that the Alpha 4.0 is ticking all the boxes for comfort, protection and practicality. Great shout on the sizing tip too—always handy for other riders. Appreciate the support and hope it keeps serving you well out on the road!
I have been riding with this for a few months now. I recently took it on a trip through Utah. I’ve done 30 deg F all the way up through low 90 deg F. With some hard rain for good measure. This jacket was perfect in all of it. Simply open the vents when it’s warm, and close it up in the cold and rain, and keep on riding. Very comfortable and looks great. Thanks for making an amazing product!
Love this! Thanks for taking the time to share your experience Adam! Sounds like that jacket’s been through some proper conditions! Stoked to hear it held up and kept you comfortable through it all. Appreciate the support and hope it keeps serving you well on many more adventures.
Hey Grant been for a ride and found jacket to be excellent , temp ranged from 9 degrees to 23 jacket was fine without liner in , zipers for vents worked well when it warmed up .very well made and well thought out needless to say more than happy with jacket and armour regards Ken
Thanks so much for the great feedback Ken! We're really glad to hear the jacket performed well across that temperature range and that the venting system worked as it should. It's always great to know the design and build quality are hitting the mark. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
I've had the Alpha 2.0, 3.0 and recently got my hands on this 4.0.
They've been my favourite jackets since the first one I had and they only get better each time.
Not only does it look great both on and off the bike but it also boasts so many awesome little touches that just make it the best by far. The ventilation from the two front zips (combined with the pits and rear vent) make it perfect to wear during the warmer days but once the temp drops, you zip it up and you're snug.
The magnet in the hood to prevent it flapping around at higher speeds.
The subtle, yet effective armour that you can barely even feel.
The updated zips making it easy to use with gloves on.
... They've just ticked all of the boxes once again!
Cheers for the review and feedback Brad! Such a perfect summary of the features and I'm so stoked to hear how much the 4.0 has impressed you even after the previous two generations of the Alpha Jacket!
