We’re proud to introduce the 4th generation our Alpha Jacket. Our best jacket, just got a whole lot better!
I know what you’re thinking… “what’s different compared to the old Alpha Jacket”? We’ve spent the past 2 years riding all over the world, taking notes of ‘all the small things’ that we could improve. More importantly, we listened to YOU. Your emails and reviews had some hidden clues on ways we could improve the design… and we’ve been paying attention.
STAY PROTECTED
We’ve stuck with the classic Protective Maxtex® 600 D outer shell for superior abrasion resistance. For added protection, we’ve designed the jacket to be 100% compatible with body armour inserts for the back, shoulders and elbows (sold separately). NEED ARMOUR? CLICK HERE.
Please note: Our Alpha Jacket takes our Zeus Pro CE Level 2 Back Protector in Large, however previous batches of this jacket may require Regular. If you’re purchasing a back protector separately, or need one for a different Akin Moto jacket, please email us first to confirm which size you need.
STAY COMFORTABLE
Cold weather? We’ve improved the removable Thermoline® thermal liner, plus added built-in wrist gaiters to help block cold wind from entering your sleeves.
Warm weather? Zip-out that thermal lining and open the new SmartVentTM System (with a total of 5 zipper vents) for maximum air circulation, keeping you cooler.
With a total of 5 large pockets, you’ll have plenty of room to stash all your valuables on your next ride. We’ve added a magnetic keeper to the removable hood (to stop it flapping around), there’s a hidden key clip in the front pocket for your key/fob, reflective logos for extra visibility and premium YKK® zippers all round.
STAY DRY
Built for the worst conditions – Fully seam sealed + our new Humax® membrane features a huge 14k Waterproof + 19k Breathability rating, resulting in the ultimate protection against rain, wind and snow. (14,348 mmH2O + 19,241 g/m2/24 h)
STAY OUT THERE
We’ve built the new Alpha Jacket to take you wherever you want to go. From mountain peaks, to city streets. Around town, or around the world. The Alpha 4.0 Motorcycle jacket is ready for it all.
The Alpha Jacket has ZERO stretch. We recommend that you choose a size that will fit 'loosely' on your body.
The best way to find out your size is to measure a jacket you already own, and that fits 'loosely' while on your bike (factoring in any garments you wish to layer underneath). Being a lot thicker than most other jackets this adds to the overall chest width of the jacket. We encourage customers to measure something that's a similar style (such as a snow or a thick technical jacket) as this will ultimately be the best comparison in chest width.
Measure by laying your jacket flat on a table, and measure the chest, making sure to go from side seam to side seam (near the armpit like in the photo below). It's very important that you reach the seam join on each side, even if you have to bend a little around the sides of the jacket. Compare your measurement to the size chart above.
If you're unsure of your size, please EMAIL US at support@akinmoto.com, especially if you are an international customer. We are here to help and will do whatever we can to make sure you order the right size.
Model in the photos is 6ft, 83kgs, has a 100cm chest and is wearing a size Large.
I’ve owned the 2.1, 3.0 and now the 4.0. The jacket has a good fit for layering up. I bought this jacket over other big name brands, as it’s a jack of all trades kind of jacket. It does well in keeping me dry in the wet. Keeps me warm in the colder mornings. Will wait till summer to test the vents out as the weather gets warmer. Overall, I’m happy with this jacket. Looking forward to future iterations.
Thanks so much for the review Victor! We're stoked to hear you've been with the Alpha Jacket since the 2.1 days! It's awesome knowing it's been your go-to for such a long time, and that the 4.0 is continuing to deliver across the changing conditions. Appreciate you bringing up the versatility too - that balance of all-weather function and everyday wearability is exactly what we set out to build into the Alpha range.
Let us know how the venting holds up once the summer heat kicks in — always keen to hear real-world feedback as we keep evolving the design. Thanks again for the ongoing support!
As the title states, Canberra winters are even warm in this jacket. Props to a Brisbane team for developing something that goes great in the cold! I love this jacket, once I got the sizing worked out (thanks Grant) it’s been an absolute dream. It also looks as new as the day I got it. Mud wipes away without effort. Buy this jacket.
Thanks so much for the kind words legend! We're stoked to hear the Alpha Jacket is keeping you warm through those Canberra winters! That’s a proper cold-weather test, so it means a lot. Glad we could get the sizing sorted too - it’s great to know it’s been a dream to wear since. Appreciate you pointing out the easy cleanup as well. We put a lot of thought into the materials, so it’s awesome to hear it’s holding up so well.
Ride safe and warm out there!
The Alpha Motorcycle Jacket 4.0 is hands down the best riding jacket I’ve owned. The fit is spot-on! It's snug but comfortable, with great mobility and no irritation on long rides.
Build quality is outstanding, with tough materials, solid zips, and clean stitching. It handles wind and rain really well, and the vents keep things cool when needed. On top of that, it looks amazing, sleek, modern, and minimal. Highly recommend!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review George!
We’re really glad to hear the Alpha Jacket 4.0 is performing well across the board - from the comfortable fit and build quality to how it holds up in all kinds of weather. It’s great knowing it’s keeping you protected and looking sharp on the bike.
Appreciate the recommendation, and ride safe out there!
Have owned for a few years now and this jacket is so bloody good, it's done me a disfavour haha Work nightshift as plant operator and live in ADL hills. This jacket is so good on my ride into and leaving work I do not feel the cold/wind or rain on my torso whatsoever. So much so that riding a bike at 100+kmph at -4c is less cold than operating a roller at 12kmph as this jacket won't allow you to climatise to the cold as you just won't feel it. Wicked pockets, strong zippers. Love the innersleeve cuffs, the hood. Everything about this is perfect.
Thanks so much for the epic review Riley! That’s a pretty wild comparison to hear -4°C on the bike feels warmer than 12km/h on the roller. Glad to hear the thermal lining is doing its job!. Stoked to hear it’s keeping you sorted through those night shifts in the Adelaide hills. Appreciate you pointing out the details too—the cuffs, hood, zips and pockets were all designed with real-world riding in mind, so it's great to hear they’re getting put to proper use.
Ride safe out there, and thanks again for the support!
I've had my Alpha 4.0 for a few months now and have ridden with it in warmer (but not summer) and cooler weather including light rain and on some trails local to Perth. Great quality jacket and great features, plenty of pocket storage, great ventilation, and little touches like the magnetic hood keeper and being able to close the snap studs with one hand.
My only gripe is most likely personal one though, and it's the bottom half of the jacket seems large in relation to the top half. I went an XL and it fits my arms, shoulders and chest comfortably snug, but the bottom half from my sternum down is quite roomy. I feel if I went down to an L the bottom half would fit better but the top half would be too small. Take that with a grain of salt though, I'm 183cm and 95kg and everyone is different shaped!
Great jacket again, love the brand and will keep buying their gear as long as they keep making quality.
Hi Frank, Really appreciate you taking the time to leave such thoughtful feedback — it’s awesome to hear you’re loving the Alpha 4.0 and making good use of all the features, especially out on the trails around Perth!
You’ve nailed the observations on the fit — the Alpha has what we typically call an 'oversized' cut, similar to a snow or larger technical jacket. That room in the lower half is intentional to help with layering and to ensure adequate coverage and mobility when you're riding in wet weather. That said, your feedback on the proportions is genuinely helpful and something we’ll take onboard as we continue refining future versions.
Stoked to hear we’ve earned a repeat customer — that means a lot. Thanks again for your support!
