Taking inspiration from our popular zip-thru Vanguard Hoodie, the Defender strips things back for riders who want maximum comfort, zero fuss, and serious protection.
Crafted from our single-layer ‘PowerFleece’, a unique blend of soft fleece and genuine DuPont™ Kevlar® fibres, the Defender delivers casual comfort with CE ‘AA’-rated abrasion resistance. Tested to EN 17092-1:2020 standards, it offers a minimum slide distance of 31 metres at 75 km/h, giving you the confidence to ride without compromise.
While it looks and feels like a regular hoodie, this is purpose-built motorcycle gear. Pair it with our CE Level 2 Zeus Pro Armour (shoulders, elbows, back – sold separately) for enhanced impact protection and a setup ready for the open road.

I haven't had any crashes to test the hoodie’s abrasion or impact protection yet, but I’ve worn it on every ride with Zeus armor guards installed. It’s extremely comfortable and clearly built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship.
However, every time I move into my normal riding position, the shoulder armor slips down my arm, leaving my upper shoulder/delt exposed. I'm unsure if my merino wool base layer contributes to the sliding, though I doubt it's the primary cause. I bought an XL, which fits well without feeling too baggy or tight, though an L would have been far too tight to put on and take off.
Perhaps the armor slippage wouldn't occur with a tighter fit in the shoulders? Although I feel like they're tight as it is. Food for thought, adding internal Velcro positioning straps inside the shoulder sleeves, similarly alike to how Akin Moto uses this design in some of their other products (knee sleeves), may help with this. The elbow guard pockets are positioned well, so I rarely have to adjust the elbow armor while riding. I also haven't needed to use the tie-down straps to keep the hoodie from blowing up in the wind, which is likely thanks to its heavy weight and substantial fabric. Although maybe I have no awareness and people may have had the displeasure at looking at my backside.
On a side note, Grant was incredibly helpful across all my purchases, assisting with sizing questions and making returns smooth and easy. I highly recommend Akin Moto

Ordered yesterday, got it within 24hours. Out of the box looked great quality and felt the same when trying it on. Tuns true to size. The wife couldn’t believe it was a riding hoodie until I showed her the rating and armour. I suspect will be warm for the summer but perfect for the cooler seasons. The kangaroo pocket as well as zip up pockets are perfect for small item storage. Perfect hoodie for riding with regard to protection and looks, beats risking it without proper gear. These guys are honestly handling their shit and performing to a level beyond a small Aussie business. Top notch service and products.

I've been using the Defender Hoodie for a little while now and I'm really impressed with it. The quality feels excellent straight out of the box, the fit is great, and the black design gives it a clean, casual look. Overall, the Hoodie feels comfortable, and still offers solid protection, I'd definitely recommend it.

Awesome quality hoodie, fits as per description/sizing guide. Feels very premium, good weight to it without being bulky. Service was excellent as always, Akin Moto is showing bigger brands/companies how to do it.

This things pretty damn good, fits like every other jumper of the same size, thick but not too heavy, if I didn't have to take out the armour it'd be a good daily jumper aswell.
